“I write from a black experience as a thread into the human experience.”
~Shirley Bradley Price LeFlore

The Shirley Bradley LeFlore Foundation (SBLF), established in 2019 pays tribute to the esteemed poet, activist, and educator, St. Louis Poet Laureate Emeritus Shirley J. Bradley Price LeFlore (1940-2019). The foundation was founded by LeFlore’s daughters, Hope Lynne Price-Lindsay, Jacie Wynn Price, and Lyah Beth LeFlore-Ituen.

The foundation’s mission is to promote and increase literacy by enhancing the appreciation of literary arts, developing educational initiatives, and organizing literary events tailored for young people. By means of interactive workshops and collaborative partnerships with educational institutions, the foundation aims to introduce, cultivate, support, and refine the skills, style, and techniques of budding writers.

SBLF and C.A.E.L. is housed in the historic Grand Arts District within the new High Low complex, thanks to the generous support of the Kranzberg Arts Foundation.
