WOMEN WARRIORS

The WOMAN WARRIORS initiative was conceived by Shirley Bradley Price LeFlore, an early proponent of intersectional feminism. LeFlore utilized her poetry as a platform to address issues of social injustice, women’s rights, and global unrest, while also advocating for marginalized groups, particularly children. This program is a specialized writing workshop aimed at empowering women who have endured various forms of trauma, such as physical, emotional, or sexual abuse, as well as loss or displacement, to express their emotions and experiences through writing. Through the utilization of creative writing techniques, participants engage in a process that is integral to their personal healing and self-reconstruction. Collaborative efforts will be made to establish partnerships with women’s organizations and shelters to further support the program’s objectives.
